ORANGE NEWS.
DEATHS FROM PNEUMONIA.
Orange, Monday.
Universal sorrow is felt here for the
deaths of two young men in the prime
of life who was taken away by the
above disease in a few hours, Mr.
Viles, of the Lands Office, and Mr.
Stephens, holding a good position in
Dalton Bros'. Mills. Mr. Viles came
here lately from Forbes, taking
Mr. Adams' place as Crown Lands
Agent. Mr. Viles was a general
favorite, and leaves a wife and four
children to mourn his loss.
Mr. Jack Stephens, who was also a
married man, was held in the highest
esteem by all who knew him and will
be very much missed. Both men had
good constitutions and were among the
least likely to be called away.

Note
DEATH OF MR J. E. STEPHENS
It is with deep regret that we an-
nounce the death of Mr John Edward
Stephens, which occurred on Saturday
afternoon, from pleuro-pneumonia.
For some time past Mr Stephens had
been a suffer it from Bright's disease,
which, however, did not incapacitate
him. During the early part of the
week the unfortunate gentleman
caught the prevailing malady, which
was responsible for his early demise.
The deceased, who was 34 years of
age, and a native of the Forest, was a
son of Mrs H Glasson, of Orange. He
was married about eight years and
leaves a wife and one child to mourn
their loss. The funeral, which took
place yesterday afternoon, was con-
by Mr J H Gain, and was one
of the largest seen in Orange for some
time. Having been employed in
Dalton Bros.' mill, the employees of
that firm, to the number of nearly a
hundred, preceded the hearse. About
50 of the brethren of the M.U I.O.
Oddfellows, in regalia, also took part
in the procession, deceased having
been a member of that order. Four
of deceased's fellow employees acted
as pallbearers. His remains were
interred in the Catholic portion of the
local cemetery, the Rev Father Gan-
non officiating. We extend to the
sorrowing relatives of deceased our
sincerest sympathy.
